The North Auckland region, has endless coast line, two harbours and some of Aucklands food treasures. The picturesque Devonport on the peninsula facing the city centre is the perfect spot for fish and chips on the beach while you dip your feet in the water looking across to the stunning vista of Auckland city. With two Volcano summits to climb a look at the views, Devonport it is a little haven to remember. Heading north up the coastline the stunning Takapuna beach is the perfect place for a stretch of legs, coffee and ice cream. The North Shore region has a wide range of immigrants resulting in a vibrant food scene and many specialty stores. It doesn't take long before you are out towards Warkworth, a gorgeous town with a combination of English and Island charm. There are many cafes offering dishes made with local produce from the many artisans in the area. The Matakana farmers market is a must visit on Saturdays, with smoked fish, oysters and buffalo cheese on offer. The region is well known for producing some excellent red wines and with plenty of rustic and pretty cellar doors in the area it is an easy place to enjoy a day.
